Randolph, Edmund Jennings (1753-1813). Aide-de-camp to Washington during the Revolutionary War, delegate to the Continental Congress, Governor of VA, first Attorney General of the United States, second Secretary of State of the United States (1794-1795, resigned after a foolish diplomatic lapse of good sense), defense counsel in the Aaron Burr treason trial. Autograph Letter Signed "Edm: Randolph". One page, 6 ¾ x 8 ¾", Richmond, January 2, 1786. Randolph offers legal counsel and instructions in a debt dispute and urges attachment of property of one Noah about to be removed from Virginia. The letter has been harshly cropped into the text and backed with lined paper with tape repair. The signature is clear and intact. About Very Good. Ex the Reverend Paul Harwell Coll.
