John Dwan was one of five who founded the company in 1902 in Minnesota. Now known as 3M the company has developed a huge number of commonly used products such as Scotch Cellophane Tape, Scotchgard fabric protector, and Post-it Notes. They also developed the Thermo-Fax copying process, and components for many other familiar electronic devices. Still extremely successful, company sales in 2004 had reached $20 billion
