Portage and North Western Railway Co., $100 shares, 1[899], #6, for 10% of the company, issued to the Northern Pacific Railway Co., signed by C. S. Mellen as President and also on the reverse by him as President of the Northern Pacific and also George H. Earl as Secretary, ornate border, arms at top of the Province of Manitoba, blue and green, small hole and stamp cancelled, counterfoil reglued at left, VF and extremely rare.

Charles Sanger Mellen (1852-1927) was president of the Northern Pacific Railway from 1897 to 1903, and the New York, New Haven and Hartford Railroad from 1903.
