Artists: Vlaminck, Maurice de (1876-1958). French painter and one of the principal figures of the Fauve movement. In his early career, he exhibited alongside his friend André Derain, Matisse and other Fauvists; painting during the day and earning a livelihood in the evenings by giving violin lessons (he was born into a family of musicians) and playing with bands.
