Civil War. Trio of late war and post-wartime newspapers: "New York Weekly Tribune," NY, April 29, 1865. 8 pages, folio. The first very good content: the front page gives an official account of the surrender of Mobile, the arrest of Junius Brutus Booth, page two gives notice of a reward of $50,000 for the arrest of the murderer of Lincoln; various articles related to the assassination and aftermath including one on "The Most Sublime and Solemn Funeral in History", Uncut page tops, lightly penciled name top front. Good Fine; "The Alleghanian," Ebensburg, May 11, 1865. Four page, folio. Mentions Lincoln's burial, offers an article on "The Presbyterian Church and the Rebellion," and correspondence "From Our Soldiers." A few trivial spots, Fine; and "The Vermont Chronicle," Windsor, VT, May 20, 1865. 8 pages, folio. Details of the "Capture of Jeff. Davis", mentions of the aftermath of Lincoln's assassination, Jeff Davis being brought to Washington - "not expected to be tried with the assassins," reports of discharged soldiers, listing of the enrollment of names upon the colors of Vermont Regiments per Gen. Meade's orders, an article on "Heart Disease and Tobacco". Trivial pencil writing top front page margin. Good Fine. [3]
