Tenth President of the United States (1841-1845); Vice President under William H, Harrison assumed presidency when Harrison died in office; an opponent of Nationalism, Tyler was a strident supporter of states' rights and a firm adherent of Manifest Destiny - the independent Republic of Texas was annexed during Tyler's last days in office; Governor of Virginia (1825-1827), Senate President pro tempore, U.S. Senator from Virginia, the Tyler in the 1840 campaign jingle "Tippecanoe and Tyler too". Autograph Document Signed "John Tyler" as President. United States Land Grant for military service, July 1, 1844. Completely hand written on line vellum, 13 5/8 x 17 ¼". The patent is for 12 acres of land "between the Little Miami and Scioto" in Madison County granted to the heirs of George Menzies, an ensign in the "Virginia Line in Continental Establishment," being namely "James T. Worthington". Tyler signs in large hand bottom right, embossed paper United States Central Land Office seal to left. A few tiny rents at centerfold. Overall well-preserved and Fine.
