1909 Hudson-Fulton Large Size Silver Medal with the original box as issued in Commemoration of the Hudson-Fulton Tercentennial Celebration. Sterling Silver, 101 mm. Struck by Whitehead & Hoag, this extremely rare, large format silver medal almost never reaches the market, particularly with its original brown leather box of issue. Inscribed "HUDSON-FULTON/ CELEBRATION/1909" in small block letters at the center of its lid, the box is fully functional and exhibits moderate wear most notable around its sides. The medal itself grades a lovely Very Choice Uncirculated; its antique-matte finish being almost entirely unencumbered by any flaws of consequence. Lovely pale to medium grey surfaces are framed by hints of lilac-golden peripheral iridescence. A highly unusual opportunity to acquire this historic medal. In fact, we urge prospective bidders to not take this appearance lightly, as it may be many years indeed before such an item reaches the auction block again! Only 100 such pieces are believed to have been struck in this format.
