Uncut Sheet of Twelve $1 1935A HAWAII Silver Certificates. Fr.2300. No.F41964097C-F41964102C (plates A-F) and F41966095C-F41966100C (plates G-L). Framed. The sheet is floating between two sheets of glass, with both sides visible. Uncirculated. After the attack on Pearl Harbor there was great concern on the part of the U. S. government that if the Japanese captured Hawaii they would confiscate all of the U. S. currency circulating in the islands and use it to buy war materials. As a counter measure the BEP surcharged "HAWAII" on both sides of the notes used in Hawaii, and the U.S. planned to demonetize the notes if the islands were captured. These sheets are rarely offered, as more and more are cut up to create instant "Gems," fewer and fewer intact sheets will remain available to sheet collectors. A rare opportunity that should not be wasted.
