Rodgers, Alexander Robertson (1807-1885). Paternal grandson to Rev. John Rodgers, friend and chaplain to George Washington, and son of prominent NY physician John Richardson Bayard Rodgers, hero of Valley Forge and charter member of the Society of Cincinnati. Led life of country gentleman in Westchester, then Fishkill in Dutchess County, until the Panic of 1837 forced him to resettle his family in New York City, where he became a prominent attorney. Marriage Certificate of Alexander Robertson Rodgers and Mary Ridgely Darden, May 11, 1832. Handwritten and certified by Reverend Kearny Rodgers of Boundbrook, N.J., on quarterfolded folio, signed by the Reverend and witnesses Stephen C. Williams, Alexander Robertson Walsh and John C. Osburn. Fine and well-preserved.
