South Carolina. 1750-1769 Written Dates. Written date is September 1869. 50 Pounds. Serial number 1160?? Ornate indent at left. Denomination and serial number in rectangular boxes near the lower left corner. Signers are Thomas Evance, Daniel Huger, J. Lloyd and Jacob Motte. Split in half and backed, otherwise Good. Attached with sealing wax to a partial sheet of Colonial newspaper. Small pieces are missing at the top and bottom of the central vertical fold. It is interesting to note that there are numerous endorsements on the piece of newspaper indicating that the note circulated this way. Not the finest known, but most of the text and design elements are there. This is a rare and early note, mostly intact, and a prime candidate for restoration. Ex. Henry Chapman.
