Kingdom of Macedon, Alexander the Great (336-323 BC), AE ½ unit, 16mm, 4.3gms, uncertain mint in Macedon, struck under Antipater, Polyperchon or Kassander, struck ca. 325-310 BC, Macedonian shield with thunderbolt on central boss, rev. crested helmet, B-A, y monogram below; also two other varieties, 15mm, 4.3 and 3.8gms, club below on reverse, and helmet with two straps suspended (Price 413, 399), attractive patinas, very fine.
