Among the most desirable of all Small Size notes, the present example pairs two of the most heavily collected areas of banknotes - high denomination and gold note type. For those reasons, and the relative scarcity in any grade, demand for the $500 Gold Certificate far outstrips the notes market supply. The present note remains in perfectly presentable condition, with a bold golden seal and serial number and evenly spaced margins. Several vertical folds are readily apparent. A one time bath and press is also evident, and the grade assigned by CGC would likely be considered generous when compared to PCGS and PMG standards, but for the collector desirous of trophy note, the present represents good value for the price.
