PCGS Gem New 66PPQ Face Specimen. 2) Fr. 2204-K. 1934C. $500. Back specimen. PCGS Very Choice New 64PPQ Back Specimen. Some press bed smearing is noticed on the back specimen but not mentioned on the PCGS holder. Note that the zeros in the serial numbers differ slightly from those use on the regular issues. For all intents and purposes, the last $500 small size notes issued and circulated were the 1934A series. Although BEP records indicate that 2,472 1934B $500 Federal Reserve Notes were printed, all on the Atlanta District, according to Friedberg none have been seen. The same is true for the 1934C $500 Federal Reserve Notes. 1,644 were printed (1440 from New York and 204 from Boston), but none have been seen. Anyone attempting to complete a set of all the known small size issue would therefore need to obtain a $500 1934C specimen set, such as the one offered here. For the advanced collector of Dallas FRNs, purchasing this specimen pair may well be the only way to ever complete a set containing one example of every known Dallas District Federal Reserve Note.
