Carnegie, Andrew Scottish-American industrialist and philanthropist (1835-1919); with his vast fortune earned in the steel industry, funded libraries across the country as well as the Carnegie Museum and Carnegie Mellon University. His Signature "Andrew Carnegie" written vertically in the left margin of a 5.5" x 3.5" program for a "Garden Concert in Commemoration of the Completion of Mr. Andrew Carnegie´s Twenty-fifth Year as President of the Oratorio Society," [New York], April 12, 1913. The program is formed by two cards joined by a white silk ribbon, and Carnegie signs partly on both surfaces. With vertical signature at right of "Louis Koemmenich," conductor of the concert. Very light foxing, VG. It was through the Oratorio Society that Andrew Carnegie commissioned the construction of Carnegie Hall, which opened in 1891.
