Baltimore Baseball Club (MO).,Specimen. Shares. Blue. Oriole mascot. EF. Originating in St. Louis, they were not the first team named the Orioles.. In the season of 1903, when the Orioles moved to New York and became the Highlanders, (later the Yankees) Baltimore was left without a big league club for more than 50 years, until the Browns moved from St. Louis in 1954. Unable to earn either victories or money in St. Louis, Bill Veeck sold the club to a Baltimore group who moved the Browns to Baltimore and renamed them the Orioles. In only a few short years, the team, led by Brooks Robinson and Jim Gentile, would make a run for the 1960 pennant. The next 25 years are considered the team´s golden era. They won seven division titles, six pennants, and three world championships.
