A Republican Institution (MA), Shs, 1821-33, American eagle with shield and "e pluribus unum" banner, magnificent wax and paper seal of liberty in cloud over all-seeing eye, original blue silk ribbon, printed by True and Green, Merchant´s Hall, Boston, fold wear including one with repairs, soiled, about VF and better. According to its 1819 charter, A Republican Institution was formed "for the purpose of procuring a building, and keeping it in repair, with suitable apartments for a reading room, library, and the meeting of said society..."
