National Transit Co (PA), Fractional scrip pair, 1899, #26 and #100, both signed by Henry H Rogers as president, eagle on rock, black with red underprint, punch cancels affect signatures, stubs reattached, edge folds, about VF+. Henry H Rogers (1840-1909), the financier who became known as the "hell hound," was an important member of the Standard Oil Trust, of which the National Transit Co was a main component. Standard king John D Rockefeller promised to dissolve the trust in 1892 and again in 1896, but it wasn´t until the Supreme Court intervened that it was broken up, in 1911.
