Charles Pratt & Co (NY), $100 shs, 1874, #9, signed by Charles Pratt as president, ornate scroll borders, red by-laws underprint, heavily pen canceled over signatures, stub reattached, good VF. Charles Pratt (1830-91) had begun by selling whale oil, and was in on the ground floor of the petroleum boom; his company would become the foundation for Standard Oil.
