A premium quality example, EF. John Pierpont Morgan (1837-1913) was one of the most important financial figures of his time. Along with John D. Rockefeller he was reputed to have controlled half the corporate assets of the United States at the turn of the century. Morgan´s financial prowess was legendary. In 1895 when the Government appeared to be headed for an economic disaster of unprecedented proportions, J.P. Morgan masterminded a plan that filled the Treasury with over $65 million in gold.
