†1868 (20 Mar.) blue envelope addressed to Wisconsin bearing 1861-62 10c. deep green pair (straight edge at right) tied by barred oval and showing a good strike of the type 1 c.d.s. "p.o.d.u.s. con.genl./shanghai" with a fair strike of "china and japan/steam service" oval in red. This is believed to be the earliest use of the type 1 c.d.s.
