10d. red-brown, OK-OL pair, used together with 1864-79 1d. plate 142, KJ, on entire to Canton dated 30 September 1870, tied by London "103" duplex cancellations, the address panel with manuscript "Via Brindisi" and with red framed "L2" Late Fee handstamp; vertical fold just crosses one 10d., otherwise fine. The rate indicates that this item was conveyed on part of its journey from France to Italy via an experimental mountain railway route, prior to the construction of the Mount Cenis tunnel. Rare. Photo
