Canada 1851 Laid Paper 6d. slate-violet, two examples in a deep shade, both with large margins nearly all round (both with outer frameline touched at one point) and tied on 1851 (13 Aug.) entire letter ex the Kennedy correspondence from Montreal to New York, showing Montreal c.d.s., additionally tying one of the values, curved "paid" and curved-framed "canada", all in red on face; the entire with two vertical filing creases, one of which crosses the left edge of one stamp. A rare double rate franking. Sc. 2; S.G. 2.
