x Great Britain 1917 postcard, the reverse inscribed "This Post Card is posted from H. M´s Balloon B.5 while flying over..... on 19.2.17. Will the finder please put it into the Post", alongside in a different hand "Dropped on 22 Porchester Terrace and posted and stamped by Sir John Collie, 22.2.17", the address (in the same hand as the first note) is to "Eardley Norton Esq., 2/1 Harrington St., Calcutta, India", bearing 1912-24 1d. tied by Notting Hill machine cancellation; some small stain spots and slight creasing though otherwise fine. A quite extraordinary item, presumably the experimental drop being done for military/scientific research, although the reason for sending it to India is a mystery.
