Charles I (1625-49), Crown, 29.86g., Tower mint, group 1a, m.m. lis, king crowned and in armour with sword over his shoulder, on horseback left, the horse richly caparisoned and with plumes on its head and rump, reads bri fra et hib, rev. long cross fourchée over square garnished shield, christo avspice regno (FRC IV/II; N.2190; S.2753), the king's profile slightly double struck, otherwise on a full flan, almost extremely fine, rare thus Estimate £1,750-2,000 provenance: H E G Paget, Glendining, 25 September 1946, lot 54
