A Great War M.C. Group of Five to Lieutenant Colonel Harold Archer James Parsons, Royal Engineers
Military Cross, G.V.R., reverse engraved 'Major H A J Parsons R.E. 1.1.18'; 1914-15 Star (2. Lieut); British War and Victory Medals, M.I.D. Oakleaves ((Major); Coronation 1937, the group mounted as worn, good very fine, with related group of five miniature awards, two silver prize medals both named to 'Gentleman Cadet H.A. Parsons R.M. Academy Woolwich', one for 'Grand Concourse 1913, the other for 'Concourse special 1913', both in fitted cases, and a quantity of documents including:
-- M.I.D. Certificates (2), 30.4.1916, 16.3.1919
-- Commission as 2nd Lieutenant, Corps of Royal Engineers, dated 11.8.1914
-- Enclosure document for Coronation Medal 1937
-- A quantity of official and personal correspondence

M.C. London Gazette 1.1.1918. Ltl (A/Maj.) Harold Archer James Parsons, R.E. The Recommendation states: 'Major Parsons has invariably displayed the highest ability in the performance of his duties as Divisional Signalling Officer. I cannot speak too highly of the efficient manner in which he has carried out his duties during active operations. Major Parsons possesses both energy and resource, and his gallant behaviour at all times under fire has been most marked.'
Lieutenant Colonel Harold Archer James Parsons M.C., Royal Engineers (1895-1945), educated Tunbridge School and Royal Military Academy Woolwich; joined the Corps of Royal Engineers August 1914, served in France and Belgium 13.5.1915 to 13.12.1917, in Italy 14.12.1917 to 31.3.1918 and again in France 1.4.1918 to 10.10.1918 (M.I.D. London Gazette 15.6.1919, 16.6.1919 and 7.7.1919)
