(a) Order of St Michael and St George, Knight Commander (K.C.M.G.) set of insignia by Garrard, London, Badge and Star, silver-gilt and enamel, very slight enamel damage to centres of Badge, with riband, in case of issue

-- Commission as Lieutenant, The Queen's (Royal West Surrey Regiment) dated 5.5.1882
-- A quantity of official and personal letters and other correspondence
-- A quantity of postcards, dinner menus, christmas cards etc. mostly 1900-1920
-- Eleven photographs, several of the recipient in uniform

U.S.A., D.S.M., the letter of notification from General John J. Pershing, Commander-in-Chief of the American Expeditionary Force, dated 6.4.1919, states: 'As Director of Equipment and Ordnance Stores of the British Expeditionary Force, you were able to render assistance of the greatest value to the American Armies. You aided us, most markedly, in the procurement of artillery material and ammunition from British sources, at all times, giving loyal co-operation.'

Major General Sir Harold Daniel Edmund Parsons, K.C.M.G., C.B. (1863-1925), was born in London and educated at Edinburgh Academy and Dulwich College; joined the Royal West Surrey Regiment 1882 and served with the 2nd Battalion in India 1882-1890; Suptd. Army Signalling, 3rd Brigade for the Burma Campaign 1886-88; transferred to the Army Ordnance Department 1890; served in South Africa (M.I.D. 16.4.1901; C.M.G.), and in the Great War (M.I.D. seven times, 17.2.1915, 1.1.1916, 4.1.1917, 11.12.1918, 12.12.1918, 17.12.1918, 20.12.1918; K.C.M.G.; C.B.); Major General Parsons was appointed Principal Ordnance Officer, 1920, and retired 1923; in October 1924, just before his death, he was appointed Colonel Commandant, Royal Army Ordnance Corps.
