Denis R. Pack-Beresford, O.B.E.
(1864-1942), O.B.E. London Gazette 04.06.1917, High Sheriff for County Carlow.
Major Arthur William Pack-Beresford, Royal Artillery, born April 1868, second son of Denis W. Pack-Beresford; entered Royal Artillery February 1887; Lieutenant February 1890; Captain September 1897; Brevet Major 1900; He went out early in the war as a Special Service Officer, serving successfully with the South African Light Horse, and in command of Robert's Horse; severely wounded at Sannah's Post, 31.3.1900, where his gallant conduct is stated to have been very conspicuous; afterwards employed with the South African Constabulary, (M.I.D. London Gazette 8.2.1900, Brevet of Major); Major Pack-Beresford died from enteric fever at Bloemfontein, 5.3.1902.
Commander Denis J. Pack-Beresford, Royal Navy born 27.10.1905; educated at Royal Naval Colleges Osborne and Dartmouth; served in World War II, took part in Battle of Crete, Malta Convoys, and in Battle of Salerno (invalided 1944).
