Officers' Mess Dress of the Westmorland & Cumberland Yeomanry.
A Troop officer's scarlet mess-jacket, with white facings, trimmed with silver Vandyke lace and Russia braid, a row of white metal studs on each side in front, ornate false pockets and richly-braided Hussar-style backseam-ornaments, plaited silver chain gimp shoulder cords with single stars in gold embroidery; and a scarlet mess waistcoat of the same regiment but earlier pattern, with roll collar and edging of silver French braid traced inside with ornate Russia braid plumes (2)

The WCY later adopted a high-collared waistcoat with massive decoration generally in the style of the 4th Hussars mess waistcoats.
