A set of Observer's Badges for an officer of the Royal Naval Air Service.
Two finely-made gilt winged 'O' sleeve badges, each with two screw-post fittings (lacking retaining-nuts); together with a miniature shoulder-board badge with gilt wire fixings. (3)

Until June 1917, all RNAS personnel employed on flying duties had worn the same eagle sleeve-badge as pilots. Admiralty Weekly Order No 2322 of that month introduced the winged "O" for Observers.
