A Rating's cap-badge of the Royal Naval Air Service or Royal Air Force.
A black velvet dome, with roped edge, bearing the Eagle in red embroidery and surmounted by the Crown, also in red embroidery

This pattern of cap-badge, worn by the RNAS, was adopted for Other Ranks of the Royal Air Force on its formation in 1918, and worn until the following year, when it was superseded by a brass badge.
