Surgeon Major Richard Charles Coleman Hickson, an Assistant Surgeon 1864, served in the Hazara campaign of 1868; was appointed Surgeon 1873 and Surgeon Major 1876; Senior Medical Officer, Ciskei District in the Kaffir War 1877-78 and also during the Zulu War 1879; was present in the engagement at Tel-el-Mahuta during the Egyptian War of 1882.
