France, Execution of Louis XVI, pewter, 47 mm., unsigned, half length bust of the king left, rev. a warrior in antique garb spearing a two headed monster holding the head of the king, red leather case of issue, medal good very fine; Marriage of Napoleon Bonaparte and Marie Louise at Paris 1810, gold, 14 mm., 3 g., by Andrieu and Galle, conjoined busts right, rev. the couple clasping hands standing beside an altar (Bramsen 956; TN pl. 39.6), good extremely fine; together with a medal of Baron Silvestre de Sacy on his death, 1838, bronze, 61 mm., by A. J. Depaulis, his draped bust right (BDM I/557), contained in a circular boxwood case medal, good extremely fine but fixed in the case (3) Estimate £ 80-100 Baron Silvestre de Sacy (1758-1838), member of the Academy des Inscriptions et Belles Lettres, France, Orientalist and Professor of Arabic at the School of Oriental languages, creator in Europe of orientalism as an independent discipline.
