Jackson, Robert H. American jurist (1892-1954); Associate Justice of the US Supreme Court; Attorney General under F.D. Roosevelt; US chief of counsel in the Nuremberg war crime trials. TLS "Bob" while Associate Justice, 1-1/4pp, small 8vo, on imprinted Supreme Court stationery, 10/2/1942. He writes to journalists Naomi and Barney Nover of Washington DC that "The eminent artist, Mr. John C. Johansen, has been engaged in preparing me for a place among the ex-Attorneys General that hang in the Department of Justice. Those more competent than I to judge think he has accomplished something really distinguished...Before it is handed over to the Department it seemed appropriate that a few appreciative and interested friends view the work...Will you join us at the studio, Corcoran Art Gallery...?" In a short Autograph Postscript Signed "R.H.J.," he adds, "For God´s sake don´t tell the Society Edition." In very good condition. Estimate US$ 150-200
