Hull, Cordell - American politician (1871-1955); US Secretary of State uner Franklin D. Roosevelt, serving in that capacity for 11 years, the longest of any man; awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1945 for helping to establish the United Nations; US Senator and Representative from TN. Choice pair of TLS "Cordell Hull" as Secretary of State, each 1/2 page, small 4to and 4to, on imprinted official stationery, Washington, 11/8 and 12/20/1940. Both are to journalist Barnet Nover of the same city, the first thanking him for "your good wishes..." and the second also sending thanks "for your thoughted [sic] kindness in sending me copies of your recent address. I know of no newspaper writer for whose opinions I have a higher respect..." Second letter age-toned, otherwise both in very good condition. Estimate US$ 200-300
