Blake, Eubie American composer (1883-1983); one of the first African Americans to write and direct a Broadway musical, his Shuffle Along. Incomplete Typed Manuscript Signed "Eubie Blake," 1p, 4to, no place or date. The final page (6) of his introduction to the biography Eubie Blake, 1979, by Al Rose, whom he praises for making him "proud of myself in a whole new way. Only thing is, I don´t think he wrote enough about my wife, Marion. But there´s no way to write enough about her..." Edge wear, staple hole in upper left. Editor´s notes in red ink, including instructions to trace the signature for use as art in the book´s front matter. Estimate US$ 75-100
