"Ready Pay Must be Resumed," 1887. Two copies of a great content 14.25" x 8" 1887 Broadside printed for A.O. Tillinghast of West Valley, NY, explaining that "READY PAY Must be Resumed! / I am Hard up for Money and can not Trust [i.e., take credit] any more. The wheels are clogged with Good Accounts but they will not pay my debts or buy Goods. I am financially obliged to make this change..." It all must happen by June 20, 1887, in the midst of a financial recession. Tillinghast lists his low prices below, and adds that he will still take in trade "Logs, Skins and Hides, Butter and Eggs, Potatoes, Old Rubber, Rags, Copper and Brass, Pork, Lard, Tallow, Honey, Wool, Oats, Corn, Beans, Buckwheat, Barley, Peas, Colts, Cows and young stock, Genseng Root, Dried Fruits, Poultry, Cotton Socks and almost anything but trust..." With an image, presumably of Tillinghast, at top. Minor edge wear, otherwise in very good condition. Estimate US$ 30-40
