World War I: Photographs Outstanding group of 77 official US Army Photographs of troops in action in France during the months of September-November 1918, all measuring 6.5" x 8.5". All have explanatory notes on verso in pencil. They show soldiers demonstrating a Browning machine gun, communications wagons under fire, the site of the Battle of Verdun, ruins of a cathedral at Montflaucon, abandoned German dugouts, US machine gun nests, observation balloons, etc. All with protective sheets of onion skin. These photographs are in as fine condition as we have ever seen for original images of the era. Estimate US$ 300-400
