Korea: Mark W. Clark American general (1896-1984); led the US 5th Army during the invasion of Italy in World War II; took over as Supreme Commander of UN Forces in Korea in 1952, signing the cease-fire agreement the following year. TLS "Mark W. Clark" as President emeritus of The Citadel, on his official stationery, Charleston, SC, 1/16/1967. He writes Mr. and Mrs. Carlos Pearl in Mexico City, thanking them for their Christmas wishes, explaining "My beloved Renie [his late wife Maureen Clark] always handled the Christmas cards and since she passed away last October, I have not felt equal to the task of doing this job..." In fine condition. Clark was president of the Citadel, South Carolina´s military college, from 1954 until his retirement in 1966. Estimate US$ 100-150
