Lot: 1204
A marvelous Photograph Album of cabinet card images of the 166 graduates of the class of 1874, with 20 images of faculty (Professors Sibley, Peabody, Agassiz, Holmes, Lowell, and Overseers Charles Francis Adams and Henry Wadsworth Longfellow) and Administration (President Eliot) on by photographer William Notman, Montreal. There are also campus views and a shot of a student room, all Fine. There is an alphabetical index of all the names, including U. S. (Buck) Grant, a member of the class. These are contained in a large book, 16 x 13" over 3" thick, with two metal latches to keep the heavy covers and photograph pages flat. The leather has deteriorated and needs restoration, and there is minor damage on a page or two inside from some blue ink spill, but an unusual record, and highly desirable. Possibly the starting point for the yearbooks we are familiar with today. This should be seen, preserved for the record. Estimate US$ 500-750
