Photograph Album: Confederate CDVs Exceptional war-date Photograph Album, ca. 6.5" x 5.5" x 1.25", in red calf with gilt designs and edges, created by Appleton of NYC, 1861, containing carte-de-visite Photographs of great military leaders in gray, including [in order of appearance] Robert E. Lee, Custis Lee, T.J. Jackson, G.T. Beauregard, J. Pegram, J. Early, D. Taylor, N.B. Forrest, G.N. Hollins, J.C. Breckinridge, J.E. Johnston, J. Longstreet, B.F. Cheatham, E. Van Dorn, W. Hampton, R.S. Ewell, and W.J. Hardee, with composites of the Confederate cabinet and Lee and other generals. Also with photographs of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert, the Napoleons, and two others. All slide into "windows" set in the album pages. Dampstains on last few pages, most photos with some age-toning and light warping, overall in very good condition for photos from the period.
