Unusual Trade Card for John J. Fagan of Troy, NY, ca. 1870s, 2.5" x 4.25", showing a black man caught on a fence while trying to steal chickens, with an angry farmer and his dog hot on his tail. Caption to image reads "Ole Zip Coon." Incongruously, the business advertised is a book and stationery shop. On verso is a schedule for the Albany and Troy Line of steamers. The card is encased between two thick blocks of Plexiglas, overall size 3.5" x 5.75" x 1", perfect as a paperweight. Estimate US$ 30-40
