Engraving: Slave Ship. Incredible 12" x 19" engraving, published 1808 by J.P. Parke of Philadelphia, showing slaves packed into a slave ship. It is unclear if this was to show the inhumanity of the salve trade or as a design example for slavers. Human beings are packed into four decks by the hundreds, where many of them would not survive the passage. Seven individual drawings on sheet. Foxing at edges, with one 2" tear at right and two smaller ones, at right and lower left. Otherwise G/VG. A chilling piece of history. Estimate US$ 150-200
