United States Mint designed Justin Kunz has crafted a modern classic in his depiction of Liberty on the American Liberty 225th Anniversary 100 Dollars. In his design, the powerful symbol of Liberty is represented by an African-American woman in a classical gown, crowned by stars. Kunz wrote: "Introducing an African American Lady Liberty underscores the diverse heritage of this Nation, and reminds us that liberty ought to be maintained for the rights and protection of all people without respect to respect or ethnicity".
