Nepal, Tribhuvan Vir Vikram Shah (2nd reign, 1951-1955), copper-nickel Rupee (4); copper-nickel 50-Paisa (7), VS 2010 (1953); VS 2011 (1954), two varieties of 2011 Rupees [equal / unequal denticles near rim], (KM 740; 742; 743), very fine to uncirculated, according to Rhodes one of the Rupee coins dated 2010 and one of the Half-Rupee coins dated 2011 are restrikes (11); Anonymous (Tribhuvan Vir Vikrama), copper-nickel 25-Paisas, VS 2010 - VS 2014 (19 mm) (12); 20-Paisas, VS 2010 and 2011 (3) (18mm), (KM 738; 739), including restrikes of the 25-Paisa issue, dated 2010, very fine to uncirculated (15); Anonymous (Tribhuvan Vir Vikrama and Mahendra Vir Vikram Shah), copper 5-Paisas; 10-Paisas, VS 2010- VS 2014 (24), (KM 736 and 737), very fine to uncirculated (24); Anonymous (Tribhuvan Vir Vikrama), brass 4-Paisa, VS 2012 (6), struck on planchets with large central hole, (KM 754), very fine to almost uncirculated (6); Anonymous (Tribhuvan Vir Vikrama and Mahendra Vir Vikram Shah), brass 1-Paisas; 2-Paisa, VS 2010 to VS 2014 (16), (KM 733, 734, 735, 749), including 2-Paisas of 2010 and 2011 struck on 21mm flans, fine to almost uncirculated, the 1-Paisa dated 2010 is scarce (16) (total 72)

“This 1955 Nepal 4 Paisa coin was struck from brass rifle cartridges used by Gurkha troops that fought against the Japanese in Burma and Assam in World War II. The cartridges had been stored in a government warehouse. They were rediscovered by a General who had them turned over to the mint to issue coins to honour the Gurkha’s service in the war. Because they are struck from used cartridges, the coins are a bit crude. The centre hole was created by the removal of the primer. They were struck only a single year, due to the limited supply of the cartridges available”
