1902 "Contract Drawings for the Hong Kong Tramways", an exceptionally-large leather bound volume (55 x 68cm) with gilt lettering and clasp, dated 1st December 1902, containing 34 planning drawings produced by Alfred Dickinson & Co. (engineers in Birmingham), and Dick, Kerr & Co. Ltd (contractors in London), for the newly-established Electric Traction Company of Hong Kong Ltd. Drawings including the proposed Russell Street depot, including elevation and floor plan diagrams of the power house, car shed and boiler house buildings; also drawings of the separate tram cars for European and native passengers, and planned tramway routes 1-7. Of great significance to the history of Hong Kong and the development of its transport network. Some signs of age, notwithstanding its great size, including some worming and wrinkling to pages, scuffing to binding.

The Hong Kong Tramway was established following the passing of the Tramways Ordinance on 23rd May 1902. The Electric Traction Company of Hong Kong, under the direction of British engineers, began construction across Happy Valley, Causeway Bay and Shau Kei Wan from September 1903. The tramway was eventually opened for passengers on 30th July 1904.
