Countess Mountbatten of Burma (1924-2017)
1998, 2000 - Two typed letters signed "Patricia Mountbatten of Burma", the eldest daughter of Lord Louis and Lady Edwina Mountbatten (as they were titled when she was born). The first letter refers to family photographs sent to assist a school project on the history of the Mountbatten (Battenberg) family. The second refers to a photograph of a portrait of Countess Mountbatten (not present) in which her miniature long haired daschund Rica appears "which my Regiment gave me to replace her little similar predecessor who was a small casualty of the IRA bomb which killed my father and mother-in-law and our fourteen year old son Nicholas in 1979, as well as the fifteen year old Irish boy, Paul Maxwell". A poignant letter (2)
