King George VI
1949 Remission of a prison sentence signed "George R" by King George VI, originally handed down by a military court in Haifa. George Ross, a police constable serving in mandate Palestine, was convicted of carrying firearms, ammunition and explosives and being in possession of an armoured car being the property of the Palestine Government. He was sentenced to ten years in prison. He was arrested by British forces near a Jewish settlement north of Jerusalem, and involved in an Arab attack thereon.
