c1680s Petition to the Justices of the Peace, Devon awarding a pension to Augustine Arscott of Belstone, who "served His Late Majesty King Charles the First...at the sieges and skirmishes at Plymouth Fort" at which he received "severe" injuries. The Petition states his inability to work and is signed by John Beare (1645-1711), the head justice, along with five counter-signatories. A pension was later awarded at 30s per annum (24 April 1688) 19x30cm, ink stain at the top not affecting the legibility of the document
