Vyner Family
A pair of documents relating to the Vyner Family, including Sir Thomas Vyner, Lord Mayor of London 1653-54 and banker, and his nephew and protégé, Sir Robert Vyner, also Lord Mayor of London 1674-75. Interestingly, Sir Thomas Vyner was knighted in 1654 as the first of 52 knights created during the reign of Oliver Cromwell.
The document concerning Sir Thomas is an order of payment to be given to Timothy Stamp of £500. Stamp was a merchant in the West Indies, and this was as a part of Vyner's bank (The Vine) based in Lombard Street. Signed at the bottom by Vyner.
The document concerning Sir Robert is a document of House of Lords proceedings regarding his debts.
