Henrietta Maria, Queen Consort to Charles I
1645 (23 July) autograph letter signed over two sides of a page in French from St. Germain en Laye to "My Cousin" (unnamed).

Letter, translated, reads: "Having had on so many occassions important proofs of your affection for me that I would do injustice to my feelings if I did not take every means in my power to let you know my gratitude. And have no means at present but through writing that is the means I will use to communicate my thanks. And particularly for that latest obligation which I have towards you for the assistance of the monies which you have offered through the commandeur de souare. I will never forge this generosity and I will endeavour to acknowledge it by some proof that I am truly my cousin.".

Reinforcement along left hand edge. Very fine and rare.

Notes: Henrietta Maria spent a deal of time in France attempting to raise funds for her Husband's cause.
